It has been talked about for months, and now finally "New Moon" has been released and is a film definitely worth checking out.
Based on the bestselling books by Stephanie Meyer, the Twilight Saga has been awaited by millions of fans since the release of the first movie, "Twilight," in November of last year. "New Moon" continues the story of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) who has fallen into the mysterious world of vampires by falling in love with Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).
The second chapter in the saga begins on Bella's 18th birthday, and is immediately followed by her heartbreak when her vampire lover Edward and his family leave town in order to protect her from the dangers of their mysterious world.
As a fan of Stephanie Meyer's Twilight Saga novels, the movie was slightly disappointing, leaving out many important scenes. The movie itself will bring in millions of fans around the world just for being from the Twilight Saga. However, millions are sick of the unrealistic vampire uproar.
Not to bash on the movie, it was definitely a good film and will be a blowout at box offices everywhere. Just don't get sucked into the "Twilight obsession."
One reason to check out the second installment of the Twilight Saga is the Quileute wolves. Taylor Lautner plays Bella's childhood friend Jacob Black, along with the leader of the pack Sam Uley, played by Chaske Spencer, as well as the rest of the pack made up of Alex Meraz (Paul), Kiowa Gordon (Embry) and Bronson Pelletier (Jared) - all of Native American heritage.
Not only did the film show off the Quileute wolves' chiseled abs numerous times, the film's special effects made the wolves actually appear almost scary. The movie mainly portrayed the wolves, unlike in the first movie where it was all about the Cullen's vampire family.
Bella Swan, played by Kristin Stewart, was an emotional rollercoaster throughout the entire movie. In hopes to see Edward, she engaged in risky behavior, which she promised Edward she would not do. The unsafe behavior causes Bella to see Edward briefly where he warns her to be safe.
After jumping off a cliff in "recreational cliff diving," Alice Cullen (Ashley Greene) sees Bella in what she thinks is a suicide attempt and rushes back to Forks, Wash., to find out if Bella had or had not been killed in the jump. However, Alice causes a rumble in Bella and Jacobs's relationship for coming back.
Following the cliff incident, Edward believes Bella had died and does not want to live in a world where she no longer exists and rushes to the Vulturi in hopes they will end his immortal life. The Vulturi is yet another reason the movie is worth seeing.
Dakota Fanning plays the scariest Vulturi, Jane, who has the most harmful power out of all the Vulturi. With just one look, Jane holds her prey in a painful paralyzing look, which harms anyone, except one who seems to be resistant to all of the vampire's powers.
In the end, the movie lived up to the high hopes of the millions of the Twilight Saga fans. The film is definitely recommended to anyone with the slightest interest in the series; however, like most movies based on novels, it does not contain as much as the novel itself. The action-packed movie is sure to be a hit to fans of all ages.
