“Youforia” by Mac Miller

The number five song this week on Danielle’s Discover Weekly is a throwback all the way to 2013. “Youforia,” a slow pace R&B song comes off Mac Miller’s “Watching Movies With the Lights Off” album. This album in general was not as successful as most Mac Miller albums, if I had to guess why I’d say it’s because it brings sad vibes compared to his usual hype and carefree lyrics he demonstrated before this album. Track 16, “Youforia,” incorporates church organs and a slow tempo. The organ’s sound in this look past song brings a game changing beat and even gives the song a Godly feel which takes you on an “youforic” ride.

“Annie” by Olivver The Kid

“Annie,” a slow tempo alternative rock single, brings dreamy beats and hopeless lyrics by Olivver The Kid. Bryan Sammis, the lone member of Olivver The Kid, was once a member of The Neighbourhood and is now also a member of an up and coming alternative duo, La Bouquet. Although Sammis’ has other projects, Olivver The Kid started back in 2010 and has consistently dropped singles since then. “Annie” brings desperate lyrics and futuristic rock beats. While Sammis, a creative genius, usually brings futuristic sounds, this one in particular brings a sexual, passionate, fairy tail trio with extra romance on the side.

“Same Person, Same Old Mistakes” by Tame Impala

Tame Impala, a psychedelic band, brings sounds similar to the world famous group The Beatles with the number three song, “Same Person, Same Old Mistakes.” The modern psychedelic sound these guys bring features a chilling altered voice and deep beats. This song, which was featured on their album “Currents,” may bring a familiar sound to some considering Rihanna featured a cover of it on her latest album, “Anti.” The cover features the exact same beat and, in my book, gives Rihanna hella props considering she’s a fan of my favorite bands, Tame Impala.

“Running Miles” by Hippie Sabotage

The number two song this week, “Running Miles,” comes from a low key duo that’s made a serious name for themselves in the EDM world. Hippie Sabotage first appeared on the radar in 2014 with their remix of “Habits” by Tove Lo. Since then the duo has released numerous singles and has stayed true to their hippie trippy vibes. “Running Miles” is a single with chill, yet rowdy feels. Hippie Sabotage incorporates a trap aspect to this carefree single by using bass boosted beats and savage lyrics such as, “I'm still in my zone, still with no phone, I ain't got nothing to prove to you,” and “You and your friends you can pretend that I don't exist or amuse you.”

“Dirty Sexy Money” by David Guetta and Afrojack (ft. Charli XCX and French Montana)

For the second week in a row, the number one song, “Dirty Sexy Money,” was introduced to me by roomie and best friend, Riley. At this point I’m wondering why I even have this job and she doesn’t but you know, I’m not complaining. David Guetta and Afrojack bring the ultimate level of hype with this single featuring “Boom Clap” singer, Charli XCX, and rapper, French Montana. With such a distinct and fast pace voice, Charli XCX brings the most convincing and desirable voice for this EDM party hit which will most likely be coming to pop hit radio near you.
