This week’s playlist is a little more chill than normal. I’ve really been feeling calm house and folk music lately. With that being said, “Caves,” coming in at number five, is a relaxing song with a mesmerising voice behind it. This is one of those songs that you can’t understand the artist, and even after looking up the lyrics, you still have no clue what they’re talking about. The electric vibes Samuraii added give the song a totally different sound than the original. Samuraii adds his own feel to his remixes, in this song and most of his other ones, you can hear the word ‘sorry’ whispered in the background. I love when artists do something like this, as it really gives them an original feel and gives fans something to look out for.
The number four song, “Colourway,” is the most underrated song of the week with only 12,000 views on Youtube. This beautiful song has poetic lyrics that make you feel like you’re in a fairytale. Ali John Meredith-Lacey, better known as Novo Amor, is an artist from the UK who has a soft indie rock sound. With over four million subscribers on Youtube, you’d think this song would have more views. Even though the song has been on Itunes for a couple months, he officially released it a week ago. I’m sure it will gain popularity in the folk world soon, and if it doesn’t, at least we’ve heard of it.
Sometimes when I’m bored, I’ll watch MTV’s Teen Wolf just to find some cool songs. “Ava,” this week’s number three song, just so happens to be from season six episode 10. This song is an upbeat folk song with a dreamy voice mixed in there. This song, along with most folk songs I talk about, has lyrics that really draw you in. Most of the time songs like this take a while to understand but just sound so romantic and are just refreshing to hear.
“My conscience burning, my beastly roar/ The headache pill, the necktie on my bedroom door.” FAMY really has a way of describing things in his music. It’s cool to hear lyrics like this and it really shows the art of folk music.
So, if I had to guess what a song titled “Sunset Lover” would sound like, this would be it completely. At number two, this instrumental song was produced by a genius, Petit Biscuit, who is only 17. The artist falls under the category of tropical house music and seems to have perfected the genre. “Something about this song makes me feel like I’m floating. I feel so relaxed and all I could think of is people smiling and me just with my friends on a summer’s day enjoying life,” YouTube user Tatina said. She couldn’t have described this song any better. This unique song has a steady beat anyone could appreciate.
The number one song this week is a song I’m extremely excited about. “All My Love” was only released July 7 and has easily became my favorite song. When I first heard it, literally two days ago on a podcast, I freaked out and knew immediately that it would be the number one song this week. Conor Maynard has been one of my favorite Youtube artists for about five years now, and I’m so happy he teamed up with Cash Cash. Maynard’s voice is perfect for this electric, sad song. You can hear the passion in his voice, while Cash Cash brings the hype beat that makes the song as good as it is. This song will easily be a radio hit and I can’t wait.
