Maybe in Lala Land teachers make $45-50ka year... Here in North Carolina, we have pitifully low teachers' salaries. My friend has been a middle school teacher in Wake County for four years now (and has gotten raises in that time, miniscule as they were) and makes less than $30k a year. Yeah, if you want to get your PhD and become a college professor you could make a pretty decent amount, but as far as regular old teachers are concerned, you aren't gonna make much of shit.

I'm all for those of you who decide to be teachers - it's an honorable career and you truly must love what you do. When you love what you do, the money isn't important.

College profs enjoy their jobs. But most all teachers constantly complain about their jobs. Have fun wiping snotty noses or being a babysitter for all of the future residents of our tax-supported prison systems. And if your a girl you might be hot now - but 95% of teachers end up fat AND ugly.

Oh really? You obviously know nothing. Teachers aren't babysitters. That's what day care is for. Most teachers enjoy their jobs because they enjoy working with children. The people that complain about their jobs probably got sent to some crappy county where they have to teach. You also need to learn how to write. It's not YOUR, it's YOU'RE. Learn the difference.

Unfortunately, I'm not fat or ugly. But if it makes you sleep any better at night, keep thinking that. And not all public school systems have to babysit the kids that go there. Some are actually really good public schools unlike the ones in Pitt County.

I find this very funny because I am a first year teacher. Also, im far from being fat or even ugly. I hope you know ECU started off as teaching college. Its funny cause some of you guys are shitting on education majors when this school was founded as a teaching school. I am aware that im not going to get a HUGE paycheck. And im fine with that. As for salaries you might want to check the Wake County Public School website. The last time I checked a first year teacher with a bachelors degree will get paid over $30,000 a year. And you get paid more if you have a masters. And you get an additional 12% increase in pay if you are National Board Certified. Not to mention we get awesome benefits. I do work for the Wake County Public School Systems. I enjoy teaching very much. Atleast im happy with what I do everyday while you might be miserable with your job or life. I just feel sorry for those people who are so ignorant and think teaching is just a babysitting job. Why dont you try teaching? Then come crying to me when you realize its a lot of work and multitasking. I would like to see you manage students behavior and get through a whole lesson at the same time.
