That's it

Abstract:
It took some doing and inspirational talks with my good friend Kerrigan Skelly on Monday, but I finally took that step in my life. After a good long heartfelt chat at the ol' library steps, I saw the light my friends. I have shed my old ways and accepted Jesus Christ into my life!

It was so simple, that I could not believe I had not done it sooner....

Halleluiah!

PSALM 111
1. PRAISE the LORD!
I will praise the LORD with my whole heart,
In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.
2. The works of the LORD are great,
Studied by all who have pleasure in them.
3. His work is honorable and glorious,
And His righteousness endures forever.
4. He has made His wonderful works to be remembered;
The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
5. He has given food to those who fear Him;
He will ever be mindful of His covenant.
6. He has declared to His people the power of His works,
In giving them the heritage of the nations.
7. The works of His hands are verity and justice;
All His precepts are sure.
8. They stand fast forever and ever,
And are done in truth and uprightness.
9. He has sent redemption to His people;
He has commanded His covenant forever:
Holy and awesome is His name.
10. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever. NKJV

I am glad you have found a religion that you feel is right for you. I am also glad that you have begun to develop a meaningful relationship with deity. However, I disagree with it being published as you have published it in the East Carolinian.

This is the most biased editorial that I have ever seen in this paper. What about those of us who feel the Christian path is not right for us? What about the Buddhist, the Pagan, the Hindu, the Jews or the Muslims who respect your beliefs, but wish to follow a path that they believe is just as right as the Christian path? Be careful how you proclaim religion; some folks might take your proclamation the wrong way. The East Carolinian should endeavor to find someone else from a religion outside of Christianity to write an editorial also. It is only fair.

I am sure at this point many will condemn my opinion. That's okay because I have my faith and my faith will deliver me through whatever may come. I don't mind you praying for me; I'll light a candle for you.

My friend, it is not about a religion that works for you. It is about the only religion that works. Now this young man will not have to spend an enternity in Hell. It took me sometime to figure this religion stuff out. Basically there is only two types of religions, Here is the first one, ready for this, Christianity they are the ones who have a Savour, and all the other religions fall under the second type. They don't have a savour and they are trying to do some kind of works to get to heaven like burn candles or incense, do good works etc. See my friend Chrisitian are saved by the Grace of God, it is a free gift not of works that we could boast about. You did not but your name on your article, I wish that you had so I could pray for you by name, but I really don't need it because God already know who you are and knows your every thought word and deed. And He loves you so very much, do know that He die for you and paid the terrible price for your sins and mine that if we was to put our faith and trust in what He has done for us that we would not have to face punishment in Hell. I tell you that I deserve to go to Hell because I have broken everyone of God's Laws, I even prayed to a false God.I do not deserve Heaven, I deserve Hell it is because of God's GRACE that I am Saved. G-R-A-C-E = God's Riches At Christ Expense. My friend have you ever told a lie, stole anything, looked at a person with lust, put anything before God, use God's name as a cuss word, then you are just as guilty has I am and if you were to die today you would have to stand before the Holy God of this universe and if God were to find you guilty you too would have to face punishment. God doesn't want that, and I do not want that and I don't think that you really want that ever. The writer of the article said it was so easy that he cannot believe that he had not done it before. First off he could not do it on his own, the Holy Spirit had to be speaking to his conscience,God Himself has to call us to Himself. God used Kerrigan to preach the gospel, God's Word, touch the conscience, conviction was brought to the heart, then the person began to reason out what he hear, does this really make sense to me, it this man really preaching truth. You see he had been blinded by the god of this world (the devil)for so long and now what he is hearing is more believeable that what he believed in the pasted. His eyes were opened to the truth, believed the truth, accepted the truth and turned from the false god that he had been following to the one and only true God. That is what is called repentance. The moment that He trusted Christ and repented he became a new creature in Christ, that is called being born again. What he posted in the paper made you angry, because this man had the guts to take a stand for Christ, the one who just saved him. This man cares about you and has written an article that will touch many lives and I believe that what he wrote touched your life and instead of you getting right with God you upset and you had to lash back in anger. This article was not bias it was "TRUTH" in it's purest form and you know what they say about the truth, sometimes it hurts. Sometimes it is a bitter pill to swollow, it is better to swollow it now than at the Judgment. I do hope and pray you humble yourself and trust the only God that can save you.

Now commenter, that's not a very tolerant position to take on this article which correctly fits the dictionary definition of an editorial: "an article in a newspaper or other periodical presenting the opinion of the publisher, editor, or editors."
Editorials are by the nature biased since they are personal opinion.
Just as you,commenter, are entitled to your opinion and expression of it why should not our editor in this case be entitled also?
Are you more equal than him? (sounds a bit Orwellian).
Those who feel the Christian path is not right are also entitled to post their editorials too.

Sadly, commenter, you are encouraging the Orwellian "thought police" concept by your stance. Is that the kind of country you want to live in?
You know most of the founders of the USA left Europe mainly because they were not allowed freedom of conscience that is why it was established as "the land of the free".
You commenter, appear to wish to turn back to your European dictatorial roots and quash all dissenters from your multicultural diversity (except those nasty Christains).
Tell me this is not true! You are surely not a Nazi?

I commend the preachers who go at personal cost and risk to reach out to those who are perishing, even if you don't believe it you can see that they have integrity and the courage of their convictions.
Who wants some wishy, washy, weak willed, namby pamby, fake Christian anyway! God hates that, the Bible says He will spew them from His mouth.
I commend Yazid for his stance and his public declaration the Bible says that if you believe in your heart AND confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord you will be saved.

I look forward to seeing you at the marrige supper Yazid, brother.

Glad you found something to live and strive for, but something as personal and exclusive as one's own spiritual salvation has no real place in a public forum (IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, mind you!). It should also be noted that even spirituality can be harmful in large enough doses, and NOTHING is in black and white, my friend.

1 Corinthians 1:18-19

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

Yazid!

I thank God for you Brother!

As for sharing your "opinion" about a topic it seems that you are very "black and white" in your idea that one's personal salvation shouldn't be published in the public forum. If "nothing is balck and white" as you say... I ask how can you be sure that salvation shouldn't be proclaimed in the public square?

According to our faith, the Good News of salvation through Christ's shed blood for sinful fallen man is to be shouted from the roof tops!

This article is an editorial, it is an opinion and that is good. This forum is provided for us to post our opinions about the articles, right? That's what I originally thought at least.

I posted my opinion, and I tried to be polite, but because I had an opinion different than the majority I am likened to a Nazi. Are you all so threatened that someone might disagree with you that you resort to stamping out your opposition and likening them to Nazis?

I have no opposition to Christianity; it is just that I choose not to be a Christian. I also feel that it is not right to push one religion over another. That is un-American. Our forefathers came to this nation to escape religious intolerance. They were, for the most part, Protestants and Christians that were in opposition to a particular European country's Official State Christian Sect. Our forefathers came here to practice their beliefs freely. However, now it looks like some of us aren't allowed to have an opinion unless we are a Christian. At least that is how I now feel.

I know many good Christians who would stand up for me and my right to have an opinion and to practice my own beliefs as I see fit, and I would fight to the death to give them the same right. However, there seems to be some who claim that I am trying to take away their rights even as they light the firewood under my feet.

I'll pray for you.

Great writing and I thank God for His work in your life. Make sure that you understand the Biblical Doctrine of Regeneration (John 3:7-8, Titus 3:5) (Born Again from Above by God's Sovereign hand) and the Biblical Doctrine of Justification by Faith in Christ Alone and not by works least any man should boast (Eph. 2:8-9). I am concerned that your "friends" may have omitted these biblical teachings from their message. Stay in the scriptures for yourself. You may want to go to www.mongerism.com and look around and purchase a DVD entitled "Amazing Grace". Just search the site for it.

It confounds the skeptics who say that Christianity is a fairy tale to see someone study the religions and find that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. If they would take the time and objectively read the Bible and examine the evidence they too could find the truth. I grew up in church but thought that going off to a University and ultimately pursuing and receiving a professional degree would bring me true enlightenment. After receiving two degrees, lots of partying, getting engaged to a beautiful woman, and obtaining a succesful well paying job I found that the American dream is a lie. That all the world contains is deception and emptiness. It was then that God by His grace saved me and I repented and found the Truth - Jesus. You have found the light and have escaped the bondage and found that he who has the Son is free indeed.

Either way your sins will get paid for . think about it if there where other ways to go to heaven then Jesus died on the cross for nothing .Remeber Jesus said nobody takes my life i freely give it. He could of sent down legions of angels . But he died in our place then he came out of the grave to prove he was the son of God . if you destroy this body i will rebuild it on the third day .

Ok, let me get this straight....An editorial was written about one persons conversion to christianity, which turned out to be some juvinile, venom-filled joke that was labeled and justified by calling it "satire" and people are losing their minds over it? Let it go people. Besides with all the corruption of church and the word that has been perpetuated by man....wouldn't it be a hoot if the Hari-Krishnas are the ones who have it "right". Wouldn't that piss the Baptists off.

These Christians aren't telling you that "You're going to Hell!" They are telling you how NOT to go to Hell! If you would only stop and listen to them!!!! Thisnk of all the sins that you have done throughout your life.
Lying, stealing, using God's Holy Name as a 4 letter curse word, lusting. See God's Law (The 10 Commandments-Exodus 20 in the Bible) for a list of them. Just think...if you committed 3 sins per day, that would add up to 1095 sins in a year. In 10 years, you would have committed 10,950 sins! Imagine how many times you have broken God's Laws throughout your entire life!!!! No wonder God is angry with our sins! The Bible says "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord." (Romans 6:23) But He made a way for us to be forgiven. He became a man in the person of Jesus Christ to pay the debt for us! We broke the Law, but He paid our fine! That's why Jesus said, "I am the Truth, the Life, The Way, no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6)
