Tuesday night's sixth inning versus Old Dominion played out like a chess match for ECU Head Coach Billy Godwin, in the Pirates' 4-2 win over the Monarchs. ODU pitcher Ryan Bergh, who had given up just three hits and no runs through 5 1/3 innings, was replaced by lefty Kyle Hald after two Pirates reached base.
The ECU football team will complete spring practice this Saturday afternoon, April 12, with the annual Purple-Gold game. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Students will be admitted into the contest free of charge, as long as they present a valid ECU OneCard at the gate.
Quarterback David Garrard probably could have gotten the Jacksonville Jaguars to pay him more money. But, he was tired of negotiating. Therefore, Garrard, a former ECU great, ended the contract process Monday, signing a seven-year, $60 million contract that is the richest in franchise history.
