After Thursday's accident between an ECU Transit bus and a bicycle that led to the bicyclist's death, ECU students have had mixed responses to the incident. Stokes resident Joseph Leon Smallwood, 54, was killed after a university bus ran him over at the corner of East 10th and Lawrence Streets, The Daily Reflector reported on Saturday.

  • Saturday night at 6:30 p.m., the ECU Ambassadors hosted the second annual Special Populations Prom at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Pitt County. The event was an opportunity for individuals, who may not have had an opportunity to attend dances or proms, to experience an event that is often a milestone in a teenager's life.

  • ECU held its Spring Career Fair at the Greenville Convention Center Thursday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Local, state and national career representatives turned out for the event to recruit students and to share some valuable information. Seventy-seven employers set up booths from a wide variety of fields including healthcare, technology, construction, insurance and retail sales.

  • Friday evening, ECU students gathered at the Student Recreation Center to show support and raise money for the victims of the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. The event, Hoops for Gaza, was organized by ECU's Arab Student Union (ASUEC). "We got the idea to do this fundraiser from [the] African Student Organization at ECU," said president of the ASUEC, Faten Odeh, a junior double majoring in journalism and political science.
