Hurricane Hanna is promising Pirates a wet weekend. Scheduled to hit ECU Saturday morning, Hanna is forcing activities all over campus to come to a halt. The number one question on everyone's mind is, what will happen with the football game vs. West Virginia on Saturday? Currently, the game is on for its scheduled time, 4:30 p.

    Student assault sparks issues of dorm safety

    On Aug. 27 at about 1:50 a.m., a male non-student assaulted a female ECU student in the lobby of Fletcher Hall. Three students in the hall heard the disturbance and came to the aid of the victim. The students were able to physically subdue the suspect and he was arrested on-site and transported to the Pitt County Detention Center.

    Freshman convocation welcomes ECU's biggest class

    On Aug. 19, the ECU community welcomed the biggest freshman class in ECU history, nearly 6,000 students, at the new student convocation ceremony held at Minges Coliseum. ECU faculty and staff stressed the message of tradition, spirit and involvement to a room full of new students.

  • Direct deposit mandatory for all ECU employees

    Starting Aug. 1, student and faculty employees no longer had the choice of receiving paper checks. By Aug. 15, approximately 60 students out of the roughly 3,000 ECU student employees had yet to sign up to have their money sent to a bank account via direct deposit, according to Larry Donley, director of the student employment office.

  • A large-scale collaborative community outreach effort took place Wednesday in hopes of better connecting with citizens of Greenville and off-campus students. The event, "Welcome to the Neighborhood," took place between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., Volunteers and organizers sectioned off the city of Greenville into pieces, devoting their efforts to speaking with as many apartment and housing properties as they could manage.
