police tape

The Greenville Police Department has released more details regarding the shooting at 33 East on Jan. 15 on its Twitter account.

21-year-old Charles Brandon Pearson is currently being treated for injuries at Vidant Medical Center. Police believe he attempted to rob Unit 204 at 33 East on Wednesday night, and was then shot by an individual inside of the apartment.

Evidence suggests the incident to be drug-related. At this time, no one has been charged.

18-year-old Abdulla Husham Hroub of Rocky Mount was also shot during the attempted robbery. He sought medical treatment later for non life-threatening injuries. Hroub’s injuries are believed to be accidental.

Earlier tonight at 33 East Apartments, a man was shot while inside the complex and suffered a serious gunshot wound from the attack.

The victim was transported to Vidant Hospital with serious injuries, according to a tweet made by the Greenville Police Department. The officers on-site have developed some strong leads and are actively searching the complex for the shooter. They also recommended that anyone near 33 East stay clear of the area until it provides further notice.

Around 9:30 p.m., GPD released that the area had been searched and that the scene of the crime was secure. They noted that there was no longer an ongoing threat to residents and that officers will stay near the scene until they completed processing the crime.

The East Carolinian will continue to follow the story and will update once more information is released.
