Sup Dogs has moved into the #BarstoolBestBar championship round against Pennsylvania State University’s Champ’s Downtown. The March Madness style competition will determine the best college bar in America through 5th Year, a college-brand Twitter. Voting ends today at 9 p.m.

Sup Dogs has dominated Barstool’s competition, winning Best Bar in the South. With an entire community supporting them, voting opened yesterday at 2 p.m. for the final round. The recognition is not only great for the bar, but East Carolina University as well.

Since the competition began, the popular band the Jonas Brothers recently made a visit to Pennsylvania for a performance at Champ’s. Joe Jonas has also been continuously tweeting in support of #BarstoolPennState, heating things up a bit.

We, the editorial staff of The East Carolinian, are voting for Sup Dogs to be crowned Best Bar in America because of its impact on the ECU and Greenville community. The Oliverio family has put a lot of time and hard work into Sup Dogs and has helped it grow to become a popular bar across eastern North Carolina, and now, maybe even across the world.

There isn’t a time you drive by Sup Dogs and it’s empty. Filling up the inside, outside and rooftop as soon as class gets out, they are more than deserving of America’s Best Bar.

Sup Dogs was Derek Oliverio’s dream, owner Bret Oliverio’s late brother. Having no management or restaurant experience, Bret went out on a limb to keep his brother’s dream alive and made the restaurant the success it is. Bringing together people of all ages in the community, the competition has brought national recognition to the local bar.
