our view

First and foremost, we would like to welcome the freshmen class to East CarolinaUniversity. These next four years will be exciting as well as challenging, and we are looking forward to seeing you all find your niche on campus. There are many opportunities to get involved, which is a great way to meet new people with like interests and build your community. We hope you all have great success in your time at ECU.

For our returning students, we would like to welcome you back to your home. We know you are happy to see your friends, as well as excited and anxious to begin your classes. As most of you know, it can be difficult at times to juggle classes and school work, jobs, and social life, but remember to stay motivated and reach out to your professors and peers for support when you need it.

We, the editorial staff at The East Carolinian, are looking forward to welcoming new and returning students to East Carolina and seeing their involvement on campus this semester. We are excited for the changes that this year will bring.

The East Carolinian serves as your student-run newspaper. We cover a variety of topics, such as sports, academics, arts, and news around campus and Greenville so you are in the know about what’s going on. Not only do we write for you, but we also want to hear from you. If you have an opinion, idea, or thought that you want to share with the East Carolina community, you can write a letter to our editor or an opinion editorial, which you can send to opinion@theeastcarolinian.com.

Whether you decide to get involved on campus and join one of our many organizations, or focus on your school work, we hope that you enjoy your year at East Carolina and wish you the best of luck in your classes.
