The new career networking site, ‘Handshake’ has become a great way for current East Carolina University students and recent graduates to meet, talk and share opportunities.

We, the editorial staff of The East Carolinian, believe that Handshake is a great database for students and recent graduates to use. We believe that ECU is not just leaving its graduates high and dry, but instead providing a lead into life.

Once on the database, students can continue to use Handshake for as long as ECU retains the service. The university is also adding in as many alumni as possible to the database, in order to connect all of Pirate nation.

ECU has implemented this database and recommends the use of it, as it can connect you to internships and future jobs. There are recruiters you can talk to, and also resources such as an online career center that is available for up to six months after graduation.

Handshake is exclusively for students and graduates of universities, giving ECU and other schools their own place to job search and make connections. The East Carolinian is excited to see what Handshake can and will do for our futures.
