Noah Farrakhan commits to ECU basketball

There has been a recent step forward for the East Carolina University men’s basketball team as 6’2” guard from The Patrick School, Noah Farrakhan, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Pirates and head coach Joe Dooley starting with the 2020-2021 season.

"I've known coach Dooley for a long time and the decision to play for him at East Carolina was second nature," Farrakhan said in a press release. "I'm excited to be a part of the program that coach Dooley is building at ECU. I'm ready to get there and start to hoop."

Farrakhan recently finished his senior season at The Patrick School in New Jersey where Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving graduated from. Before that, he played at IMG Academy in Florida for two years and St. Benedict’s Prep for one.

"We're very excited to welcome Noah and his family to our Pirate basketball family," Dooley said in a press release. "He had a terrific high school career playing against the highest caliber of competition. He's been extremely well-coached by three outstanding coaches: Mark Taylor (St. Benedict's), Sean McAloon (IMG) and Chris Chavannes (Patrick). We expect Noah to be a key contributor as well continue to build the program."

Farrakhan played at IMG Academy his sophomore and junior season, ending with a victory in the 2019 GEICO Nationals championship. He led The Patrick School to the Union County championship during his final season. He averaged 7.1 points and 2.4 assists. He also averaged 46% from the field and 34% from three his senior year.
