East Carolina University’s soccer team will look to snap a two-game losing streak tonight at home against UNC Wilmington, which will mark the first of a four match home stand for the Pirates.

ECU enters the game with a record of 4-2-1. The Pirates have been winless over the last three games, which resulted in either a loss or tie, mostly because of their poor offensive play. The Pirates have scored a total of two goals during those matches while getting outshot 46-25 during their last three games.

Midfielder Annah Lindberg believes the offensive struggle starts with her playing better as an individual and how the team executes in practice. Lindberg said it’s very important for her to communicate with her teammates.

"I definitely think I need to put in a lot more work before and after practice,” Lindberg said. “I watch alot film of myself and of my forwards, defenders, and midfielders as well because that helps me learn a lot about how they play, how they like to receive the ball, and where they want the ball so I can find more ways to get into attack and feed them the ball in their spots.”

Lindberg is statistically having the best season of her career. Lindberg, who has two goals on the season, is on pace to surpass her career high in goals in a season, which is four. She has also seen an increase in her shots on goal percentage, which jumped from 48.7 percent the previous season to a staggering 66.7 percent this season.

UNCW enters tonight's matchup still struggling to find its identity as a team. The Seahawks record currently stands at 3-4-1, while being winless in four of their last five matches.

The Seahawks’ offense has also been mostly the reason for their struggles thus far, having only scored a total of six goals on 38.9 percent for SOG during the season.

Tonight's game against the Seahawks is the perfect opportunity for the Pirates to put the losing streak behind them and get back in the win column. According to head coach Rob Donnenwirth, it’s important the Pirates respect UNCW because they are a tough team that has faced tough opponents.

“I don’t think our team will have any misconception that UNCW is a good team, Donnenwirth said. “Their schedule has been brutal so we know they’re a good team. They may be a little bit young but they are really committed to their plan of how they play and they work extremely hard so we know it’s going to be a really tough game for us.”

The match was a good and fair one. I am a great assignment geek footballer fan and have to my knowledge never missed a match and have tried to watch almost all of them. The pirates scored more and got the 1st position and the 45 min match turned into a 60 min one as the other team was also a strong one.
