President Donald Trump will be in Greenville, NC for a rally in preparation for the 2020 presidential election. He will likely speak about the military, immigration concerns and other hot topics that are currently being spoken about throughout the country.

The rally will start at 7 p.m. in Minges Coliseum, and there is no official end time. Currently, there are six military bases in North Carolina, with Fort Bragg being the largest military base in the country.

Although one of the big reasons President Trump is in Greenville is for the large military presence in the state, there is a larger reason to hold a rally so close to East Carolina University.

We, the editorial staff of the East Carolinian believe that President Trump is primarily here to appeal to the student vote, and to try to sway the opinions of students

In the previous election, the majority of ECU’s student body voted democratic, along with the city of Greenville. While he was campaigning for the 2016 election, trump came to Greenville for a rally, but held his rally in the Greenville Convention Center instead of near campus.

According to the New York Times, 49.8% of North Carolina voted for Donald Trump, 46.2% voting for Hilary Clinton and the remainder of the votes went to Gary Johnson and independent candidates.

Trump is likely to focus on issues that would heavily affect students, especially those in North Carolina.

Trump may be shifting his focus to the student vote in North Carolina, there is no telling what he may say as he tries to rally for re-election, and one that is stacked with potential candidates that could defeat him.
