Cotton Residence Hall, on the central campus.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak East Carolina University Vice Chancellor Virginia Hardy sent out a statement to students who currently reside in residence halls not to return to campus. However, if students need to return to their residence halls there will be a form made available by campus housing March 16 to do so.

If students must return to campus, Hardy said in the statement that all residence hall students will be required to complete the ECU COVID-19 online form, which will be made available at 9 a.m. March 16. Links to the form will be available on numerous ECU websites including the ECU home page as well as ECU Campus Living. This information will also be sent to all students’ ECU email accounts.

After the online form has been submitted, Hardy said in the statement each student will be contacted by a staff member from Student Health Services or Campus Living for next steps or to gather additional information. Students should not make plans to come to campus until they have been contacted by an ECU staff member from one of these offices because students will not have access to residence hall prior to this form being filled out she said.

“Due to the expected high volume of forms, we ask that you are patient as the processing of the forms may take up to 48 hours before a student is contacted. It is imperative that students provide the best available phone number so that ECU staff contact you as soon as the form is processed,” Hardy said in the statement.

Students living in the residence halls as of Sunday, March 15 should report to their Neighborhood Service Office between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on March 16 to complete the form in person in order to receive immediate access to their rooms, according to Hardy.

The university will continue to monitor the virus and provide regular updates on the ECU coronavirus site. For additional questions students are encouraged to email COVID19@ecu.edu.
